Hey there Lakelands, I’m Meredith.
I did my BA in journalism at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, NB and graduated with the class of 2013. After graduating, I worked as the weekend news announcer for a few stations in Freddy and spent some time freelancing as a reporter, columnist and book reviewer for a few different publications.
Now, I’m in St. Paul. I moved here to work for Newcap Radio in October 2014 and I’ve adjusted to life in small town Alberta pretty well. I've learned a heck of a lot more about cows and rodeo than I expected to when I made the move, but St. Paul has been a really good fit and I'm excited to see where it goes.
I married Jordan, the love of my life in July 2016. He's from the region and neither of us is in a hurry to go elsewhere, so we'll be sticking around for the forseeable future.
When I’m not at work, I can be found leading the local Beaver Colony, at the library, or cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs. I spend all day talking at work, so my downtime is pretty low key. I knit, I read by myself and sometimes in costume with kids at the library and FCSS, and I cycle to the tennis courts to practice my (terrible) serve. For a few weeks in 2012 I held the second highest Tetris score in the world.
I’ll see you around town, and I hope if you’ve got something happening you’ll shoot me an e-mail or call me here at the station to let me know. Local news is meant to be local, and I want to be reflecting the community here in my broadcasts. Don’t get me wrong, the rest of Alberta and Canada are great and I’ll talk about them a bit too. But my focus always needs to be on YOU.
